Kino Biotech Malaysia has launched a new e-store called K Glam that sells exclusive Korean beauty products, riding on the waves of the Korean fever that has struck Malaysia.
K Glam is created to serve e-shoppers and give them the confidence to shop worry-free as it only carries authentic and genuine beauty brands from South Korea.

Kino Biotech Malaysia has worked closely together with Kotra Kuala Lumpur (a South Korean government agency for trade and investment promotion) to source for authentic products and to promote the brands in Malaysia.

Among those who were present at the launch were Kino Biotech Malaysia executive director Marcus Chong, chief operating officer Jennifer Chin, sales and marketing assistant general manager Winnie Pok alongside Kotra Kuala Lumpur directors Steve Yeon and Lee Jusang.

The introduction of these new South Korean brands to the Malaysian market is to encourage more people to experiment with colours, shades and quality.

K Glam will also be featured on local online platforms like Shopee, Lazada, 11Street, Qoo10, SuperDeals and Kinohimitsu’s official online store. Some selected brands will also be featured over Astro Go Shop, a television shopping channel.

As we are moving into a new house soon, we are busy looking for electrical from home appliances to home entertainment systems recently. Welcome to the brand new year. One of my 2019 New Year resolution is to be healthier with more regular workout and adopt an healthy diet. Hence I am happy to share the first blog post of the year with you about the ‘READY SET GLOW’ campaign by Guardian Malaysia.

Did you know the energy for our school-age children is 1,500kcal calories per day? Which is equivalent as running a half-marathon! In order for our children to have enough energy to go further and stay focus, breakfast plays a very important role. There was a saying in Chinese proverb “一日之计在于晨” tells us that morning is the most importantly time to plan the day ahead and hence breakfast is the most important meal of the day for us to stay focus and think ahead.

As my elder girl is turning 10 in a couple of months, it becomes more important for her to stay focus and have enough energy throughout a long day in school. She will needs balance nutrition to be healthy and study happily. I am glad that we have joined the MILO Bento Box Workshop held at 1 Utama Old Wing Concourse on last Saturday morning. We have met a lot of other parents and kids on that blissful morning and enjoyed our light breakfast which included a pack of MILO UHT drink to kick start the day.

It is therefore important for parents to help their children start their day right and stay energised in school. As an advocate for healthy eating, we share with parents the importance of packing a wholesome, balanced home-prepared meal that will replenish the energy and nutrients for their children to take on a challenging school day,” she added.

We were fortunate to have Georgen Thye, dietitian and founder of Georgen Cooking shared on a detailed Nutrition talk, and demonstration on recess box recipe with us. When it comes to recess box, always keep in mind the concept of #sukusukuseparuh or “Quarter-Quarter-Half” to help provide your child with the nutrients and energy to start the day. That means to get a quarter proteins, a quarter carbohydrates and half vegetables in a plate.

Besides that, Georgen also demonstrated 2 recess box recipes which is healthy and tasty, and more importantly, they are really easy and fast to prepared. Follow the recipes below, try it out and you would believe.

Recipe 1 – Easy Sardine Pizza

Ingredients

3 pieces Wholemeal wrap
1 small can (150g) canned sardines in tomato sauce, cut the sardines into smaller chuncks in a bowl with a fork
½ medium onion, sliced
12 pcs Cherry tomatoes, cut into hald lengthwise
½ cup brocolli, sliced
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese, can alternate with sliced cheese
½ teaspoons black pepper

Methods

Preheat the oven to 190 degree celcius.
Place a piece of baking baker paper on a baking tray and then put the wholemeal wraps on the baking paper.
Spread the sardines in tomato sauce on the wraps evenly with a spoon.
Arrange onion, cherry tomatoes and brocolli in a single layer on the wraps.
Top up with mozzarella cheese and black pepper.
Bake in preheated oven for 5 to 8 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Easy Sardine Pizza contains a lot of nutritions includes 306 Kcal Energy, 24.8g protein, 15.6g fat, 27.9g Carbohydrate and 3.3g Fibre.

Recipe 2 – The Treasure Pockets

Ingredients

2 pcs wholemeal pita bread, cut each into half and form a pocket in each half
½ cup corn kernel
1 tsp soft margarine
1 tsbp plain yoghurt
1 tsbp low fat mayonnaise
1 tsbp raisins
3 tsbp canned tuna in water
8 pcs lettuce, washed
½ medium apple, washed and sliced. Do not remove the skin to retain more nutrients and fibre

Methods

Microwave corn kernel in a microwaveable bowl for 1 minute.
Add in soft margarine, yoghurt, mayonnaise, raisins and tuna into the same bowl and then mix with a spoon until well combined.
Put lettuce and apple slices into the pocket.
Fill the pocket with the corn and tuna mixture with a spoon.
Repeat steps 3&4 to the remaining pita pockets.

The Treasure Pockets contains a lot of nutritions includes 322 Kcal Energy, 15.7g protein, 4.4g fat, 54.9g Carbohydrate and 7.6g Fibre.

Food is more appealing with decorations, and it's more fun to incorporate the kids' imagination into the bento box. Hence we have learnt how to style our healthy bento box from Lee Samantha, renowned food artist. It was my second time learning from her live demonstration. Her whimsical, colorful and unique food styling tips really helped a lot to spruce up the recess boxes. More importantly, it is easy to make it with the existing tools in our kitchen.

After the demonstration, it's time to put our hand on making our very own bento box. We were given 75 minutes to create our own MILO Bento Box and there were top 3 winners plus 2 consolation prize winners voted by the judges and the kids! We were lucky that our ship theme treasure pocket has won the third prize!

It's worth taking extra effort to transform the ordinary recess box to a creative one where every kids would surely love it, even the picky eaters. We parents would be assured of the best nourishment for our kids to stay healthy, active and go longer in that way too. So why not start packing the Bento box for our kids from now?

Especially on the Chinese New Year's even dinner, which is also the reunion dinner that is important for all Chinese family.

To usher in Chinese New Year, Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar invites you for a auspicious Chinese New Year dinner at their Oriental Chinese Cuisine. Featuring dishes that are believed to bring health, wealth and happiness for the New Year, the CNY set menu will be available from 15 Jan to 19 Feb 2019 for lunch and dinner.

Begin the scrumptious feast by tossing the Yee Sang which symbolizes tossing up good fortune and abundance of wealth and long life. Diners could pick from a variety of yee sang from Japanese scallop, abalone to salmon.

According to Chinese Cuisine chef Lee Yew Ken, the yee sang comes in healthier version as no colouring is used in the ingredients. “We want diners to have a healthy meal during Chinese New Year,” he said.

The yee sang is priced from RM48 for half a portion and RM78 for one portion.

Next, warm up the tummy with Double-Boiled Soup with Dry Scallop, Fish Maw and Wild Red Mushroom. The Double-Boiled Soup is nourishing and comforting to the tummy.

Follow by Steamed Pearl Tiger Grouper with Superior Soy Sauce. Fish is a must have for every CNY meal as the Chinese saying “年年有余（鱼）”. We like the sweet, smooth and tender tiger grouper with soy sauce flavor.

The highlight of the CNY menu is Braised Assorted Sea Treasure in Bamboo Basket. Also known as the Poon Choi, this is another traditional CNY dish favoured by everyone. Poon Choi is special in that it is composed of many layers of different ingredients. It is also eaten layer by layer instead of “stirring everything up”. Diners can find Abalone, Sea cucumber, Dry Scallop, Fish Maw, Chinese Mushroom, Tiger Prawn, Smoke Oyster, Waxed Duck, Roasted Duck, Chinese cabbage and Broccoli simmered with the flavourful broth and premium ingredients, simply excellent!

Another of my favorite dish in the set was Sumptuous Waxed Duck with Smoked Oyster Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaves. One of the best parts, besides eating it, of course, is unwrapping it. The first thing you notice is the scent of the lotus leaf. As you start unwrapping it, that scent lingers, but now it's joined by the smell of the sweet sausage and seasonings like soy sauce and shallot. When you start eating it, all the ingredients come together, awesome!

Lastly, a sweet ending with Deep-Fried Nian Gao with Double Boiled Peach Jelly with Ginseng and Red Dates.

Nestled in the busy central of Mont Kiara, Hyatt House KL is the best place for travelers to experience the neighborhood of Mont Kiara, and also be part of the friendly neighborhood.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 young kids checked-in to Hyatt House KL on a lovely Saturday last December. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smile from the friendly staffs there. The check-in process was fast and easy.

Once checked-in, we were given the room key to access to the lift and our room's floor. We had chosen the Suite type that occupied 42 sq metre. Once the door opened, my kids jumped with joy. It feels just like a home to all of us.

The suite is bright and clean, and comes with all the fully equipped kitchens. From fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, cutter, cutlery, bowl, and many more. You name it they have it.

There's a L-shaped sofa bed and flat-screen TV at the living room. We turned the sofa bed into bed for my two daughters to sleep that night.

Stepped into the room, there was a double bed facing another flat-screen TV. There's a working area at the corner with lamp. That is good for us because we don't need to share the TV with kids. We can watch our favourite channels in the room while the kids watching cartoons at the living room.

The wardrobe was filled with bathrobes, hair dryer, safe, slippers and more. At the side table, there's lamp and alarm clock too.

You gonna love the modern-designed bathroom, with the wide and light up mirror. Hyatt House KL provides full set toiletries too.

On that evening, we took a stroll around the neighborhood. We love the newly opened 163 Mont Kiara which is just next to Hyatt House KL, it made shopping so easy and convenient. We also had our family's most love Korean fried chicken – Kyo Chon which is just downstairs on that evening.

Once we returned to our suite, we watched the TV with the kids and had a good night sleep after that.

Breakfast at the next morning serve from 6.30am to 10am. The choices are enough for us. Most importantly, they serve good coffee and juice here.

There's free shuttle service, free buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, 24-hour workout and games room, and TEN37 Sky Pool Bar at Hyatt House KL. However we did not utilize any of these equipment because it was a rush day for us.

Check-out process was superb, fast and hassle free. The only comment from us is that Hyatt House KL does not provide free parking for guests hence you have to pay the car park yourself. It's not expensive but it would be better if car park is complimentary for guests.

Other than that, we are truly satisfied with our stay there. My kids and I would love to go back Hyatt House KL again when chances arrive, simply because it is comfortable and enjoyable stay for all of us. To RSVP, go to here.

Hello my dear readers, I hope you are having a lovely weekend. As a coffee lover, I feel happy because I just had my good cup of coffee, what about you? People always ask - 'what makes a good coffee?'. I have just learned that there's 4S that contribute to a good cup of coffee at the 5th Cafe Malaysia which was held at MITEC from 17-19 January 2019.

I have met many master baristas and coffee-enthusiasts there. As the official milk of Malaysia Latte Art Championship and Malaysia Barista Championship from 2019-2020, Dutch Lady has organised some fun and interactive activities at their booths for all of us to join. My mum used to gather the whole family member to spring cleaning our house 2 days before Lunar New Year because there's a saying in Chinese “年廿八，洗邋遢”.
